  1. I am planning to start an on-line business. What type of hosting do I need? The hosting company that I am signing up for is 1&1 hosting. It offers me beginners, home, and business. It also have an eShops, whatever that means..?

Anyways, I just want to sell ONE product, it’s a start, and want to know which plan should I get. I want to be able to accept payment such as paypal, visa/master card. Does it cost money to have such service and do I have to sign up for the business plan to get such service or can I get an ordinary one and set-up my own.

I don’t know which is best. Please give some insight on how I should go about is starting this business. Thank you.

    I REALLY NEED HELP.
I’m sorry. I mean one kind of product.

  2. I want to share a moment in my quest to make money on-line that was the turning point for me.
Many of you may well be aware of this, but as a “newbie” it was something I had to discover on my own. The inspiration to share this came from the postings in this forum referring to the importance of having a business plan.
Rather than randomly “doing stuff” to gain traffic to my site, I simply wrote a daily plan (i.e. post in 3 forums, place 5 adds, surf at least 10 pages on a surf exchange, etc.). This kept my activity consistent while balancing my other responsibilities.
It was however, the change in my mindset that jump-started my success.
I am not a religious person but I am spiritual. I changed my focus from opportunities that are intended to horde cash, to an opportunity that I truly feel good about sharing, as those it gets passed along to also have success.
My true focus and mind set changed from “grabbing cash” to helping other succeed.
When you see a homeless person or another in need, help them. A dollar or two can change their entire day and your generosity will return to you tenfold.
Seek out opportunities that truly help the person you share them with and stick to a daily plan.
I wish all of us success.

  3. I am doing a business plan and need to explain my risks. I am opening a cafe as a sole trader, employing 2 chefs and waiting staff.

    Risks:

I am aware there are certain risks, which are of a significant importance to opening The Cinnamon Stick cafe. Some risks of significant importance is inexperience in being an entrepreneur, few customers for a significantly long term and issues in financial arrangements with the bank.

I am not skilled in opening up a new enterprise and have never embarked on such a project before. It is known that the majority of any entrepreneurial ventures fail. This could result in my business failing to survive. One of the factors which contribute to the failing of a business is due to self-employed people is not being clear in their business plan and due to inexperience as mentioned before.
If I receive few customers, I am in danger of an insufficient income of money. Not only this, but it may result in the chefs and waiting staff quitting and abandoning me, with further issues of having to find people to take its place. One way I have planned to reduce the risk for this is that I have already invested $25 000 in a business account for the running of the cafe in the bank. $15 000 of this is for myself in order to enable that I have money to back up my own personal financial needs. The chefs I have arranged for The Cinnamon Stick have also consulted me that they have enough money to back them up. One chef is for about 2 months time with the other 3 months time.
Some () is that I may have competition or complacency. Competition would normally occur with other restaurants or cafes nearby with a more significant degree if they are to sell the same foods which are consumed by customers. The problem in this context is that my cafe is an international cafe selling foods of cuisines from around the world. This would mean that it is likely to be nearby restaurants or cafes with the same foods. To keep ahead of this is such a thing was to occur I would be essential to sustain a competitive advantage. I may need to lower prices of certain foods to maintain a sufficient amount of money. Other methods were mentioned earlier in discounts with the rating of each foods.
The other plan in mind is to reduce the cost of the bill by 5% if customers are to rate each food out of 10. Each result will be truthfully hanged on the door. I also will be purchasing organic foods.

  5. I am thinking about applying for a £30k business loan. I want to purchase a news agent business for £65K and already have £35k of my own funds available.

I know about the importance of business plans etc and am going to get these sorted out.

I currently owe £20k on a personal loan and my payments are upto date. Will this debt make it hard for me to get a business loan?

    Thanks

    Thank you.

  7. I want a way to show students the importance of good planning–as opposed to making decisions without careful consideration of all the facts. I’d love some stories, myths or business cases that show a colorful example of either A) How someone succeeded by having a well thought out/original plan or B) someone failed because they did not gather the facts before making a big decision. Any suggestions would be great!

  13. IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING

As the news of influenza pandemic broke out, it was witnessed that the government and health
officials rushed to purchasing medicines, conducting disaster drills and taking such initiatives
that would limit the spread of these diseases.

However, one survey indicated that 72% companies had not even begun to prepare for the bird
flu pandemic. Most of the business officials in United States stated that they had nobody in
charge of a plan that could identify the severity of the issue and its impact on operations. On the
contrary, Asian and particularly Southeast Asian countries had planned for this situation, as
they previously had to deal with the SARS outbreak in 2003 which brought the regions’
commerce to a standstill. But they were well prepared this time. A survey of 80 corporate
officials held by American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong found that nearly every
company had someone incharge of such catastrophic situations and 60 percent stated that they
had clearly mapped out plans that could be implemented immediately in such a crisis situation.
For instance, HSBC, a global bank took steps to help and prepare its employees work from
home and also prepared to divide work among multiple sites. Even FedEx said it had prepared
contingency plans down to every district or market in Asia Pacific.

But what about those businesses that had not yet prepared for a potential outbreak? A report on
the outbreak of such a deadly flu reported. “In a world where the global supply chain and real-
time inventories determine almost everything we do, down to the food available for purchase in
our grocery stores, the importance of advanced planning can not be overstated.”

    1. What role do you think goals might play in a company’s planning for any possible
pandemic outbreak? List down some goals that you think might will be important.

    2. What type of plans might companies need for this situation ( for instance short term,
long term or both) Explain why you think these plans are important in this situation

    3. Being a manager what planning tools would you recommend to deal with this type of
    situation effectively?

  14. its seem like there is business planning, business start up, and business development. what is business development, and the difference between all them

  15. How to compile a business plan?
How to compile a business proposal?
    What is prospectus?
    How do I arrange prospectus?
    What is administration?
What is the importance of administration?
    Why is administration important?
What are the important tools of administration?
What are different aspects of administration?
How do I implement administration in a company?
What are different parts of administration?
    What is a business?

  16. Ive just entered 2nd year at university and Im not impressed at all, during first year, I ended up getting A’s in nearly all my assessments, but of course 1st year wont count towards my final grade..

Looking at the work for my second year, 4 out of 6 modules are group work, where we must work in teams of 5 to complete tasks such as 5000 word referenced business plans. I fail to see how thats even possible, everyones style of writing is different, everyones going to be arguing about whats best.

Further group work includes presentations etc..

I really wanted to pass with a 2:1, now it just seems impossible, this work has bummed me out. I only really do well working on my own writing assingments, thats what Im good at. Im not saying other people arent capable, but cmon, stick a bunch of people together all with different opinions is just going to create a mess and jumbled up piece of work. To make it worse, no one in my lectures even TALK and everytime we have a group work, either everyone just sits there saying nothing, or when I say something it gets ignored.

Obviously I cant change the course, has anyone got any ideas how I can go about group work? Im very poor at it, I dont want to be stuck with people who do nothing or people who wont let anyone else have a look in, how do I deal with people like this? How to I get better at this, i dont want to ruin my chances of a 2:1! 🙁

    x
I understand what your saying Letter, I really do, but just because you get along with someone wont make you academically matched. I know I can get along with pretty much everyone, but I dont want my grade to suffer as a result of poor team efforts. I know it sounds harsh on their part or me to say it, but this 2:1 is very important to me. Little bits of work is okay, but a whole referenced 5000 business plan, how do we do it without conflict :s

  31. I am writing a business plan for the first time and am confused on how to figure the following:

Estimate how much start-up capital you will need to begin your business.

How will you obtain this needed capital?

Revenues covering all costs, both fixed and variable.

Estimate your revenues and expenses for 10 years.

Any explanation would help so much. Thanks!

  34. For the summer my friend and I want to start our own business planning birthday parties for pre-teens, younger teens and young kids. We’re 16 years old and we thought it would be a good idea because it was different and many parents who try and plan their childs party dont even know what their kid likes. I want to know how should I get started and how much I should charge? Any tips here would help.

  41. Over 60% of small businesses fail due to a lack of planning and execution of a business plan. When businesses are so small it is rare to have an HR manager, because of that training and follow-up is non-existent. Who would be accountable and how could management implement a training routine to make it beneficial and cost effective?

  51. Business in a box VS Business Plan Pro [Entreprenuer].

Thank you, I am planning an online business and doesn’t really matter with the legality. I need something that is professional and that can help me move forward and create a good business plan.

    Thank you.

We’re 16 years old and we thought it would be a good idea because it was different and many parents who try and plan their childs party dont even know what their kid likes. 57. I have helped quite a bit of users here on business planning, some financial stuff and business in general, but what comes to mind is how much time and energy people actually put into planning?

Do you feel that if you should plan better you are more likely to succeed?

Patent research and application may be established in the future depending on result of investigation. Eventually Mrs. Baker wants to expand Baker’s Seasoned Drapes into LLC with a store front also marketing ready-made items to serve more segments of the community.

    Trademarks, patents, copyrights, licenses, royalties

Baker’s Seasoned Drapes have a possible patent to be established in the future for current intellectual property.

Since quality is of the utmost importance next to service, I will ensure customer satisfaction with every order. If fabric was flawed, or custom product was made incorrectly, this will be shipped back to fabricator for repair or a local seamstress will be used to correct the issue in a more expedited manner. These decisions will be made at owner’s discretion.

Thank you.

I understand what your saying Letter, I really do, but just because you get along with someone wont make you academically matched. I am a little stressed with creating a business plan for my business I am hoping to initiate. Hoping for a clear concise explainations and correct use of grammar.

    PRODUCT/SERVICE

    Purpose of the product/service

Baker’s Seasoned Drapes provide full consultation services offering custom crafted soft window drapery products such creations as; draperies, valances, bedding, pillows, hardware etc. . . .

The Company’s revenue stream will come from the direct sourcing, purchases from custom crafted units on behalf of clients. Since the service is to produce a higher end specialty segment, the two most important aspects of production are quality and scheduling. The companies projected customers will have buying power as they represent the reputation of the businesses final product produced. Therefore if the company does not produce the necessary items with the required specifications when needed, the loss of future revenue from a client can be significant.

    Unique features

Baker’s Seasoned Drapes is in the business of providing clients with an outstanding level of service that they can call upon for support regarding window decorating of homes, offices, and apartments. Our line of custom products is made in an assortment of textiles to fit any area in the home to any specification in array of hundreds of fabric choices. At the onset of operations, Management intends to integrate a number of new technologies that allow users to take virtual tours of homes with decorated windows that they can have installed in their homes. This will not only allow the business to operate more cost effectively, but will also provide a strong marketing image for the Company.

    Stage of development

The company is at the very beginning of development. Investigating availability of grants, resources and establishing relationships with vendors and contractors to acquire an adequate estimate for startup.

The goal is to have the business operational by September 2012.

    Future research and development

Patent research and application may be established in the future depending on result of investigation. Eventually Mrs. Baker wants to expand Baker’s Seasoned Drapes into LLC with a store front also marketing ready-made items to serve more segments of the community.

    Trademarks, patents, copyrights, licenses, royalties

Baker’s Seasoned Drapes have a possible patent to be established in the future for current intellectual property.

    Governmental approvals

The business is not far enough along in its stage to initiate this section but intends to comply with all government requirements and regulations.

    Product/service limitations

All products will be delivered and installed with warrant to craftsmanship.

    Product/service liability

Since quality is of the utmost importance next to service, I will ensure customer satisfaction with every order. If fabric was flawed, or custom product was made incorrectly, this will be shipped back to fabricator for repair or a local seamstress will be used to correct the issue in a more expedited manner. These decisions will be made at owner’s discretion.

The customer will be held liable for the color, fabric and style chosen which will be held accountable on the contract.

The business will be insured with general liability insurance up to $10,000.

I’d love some stories, myths or business cases that show a colorful example of either A) How someone succeeded by having a well thought out/original plan or B) someone failed because they did not gather the facts before making a big decision. Any suggestions would be great!

  124. Hi,
I’m in the process of opening a clothing boutique in my home town, right now I’m working on my business plan. So I ask to anyone that can give me some input…
What do you look for in clothing boutique? Or What do you expect from a shopping experience? What makes you choose a boutique over another one? What has more importance, price, variety, exclusivity, customer service? What would you consider a good idea to include in a store?

Thanks and looking forward for answers …Thanks

  125. I am trying to prepare a business plan but am overwhelmed by the task of organizing the endless info.

  126. My friend & I are setting up our event planning business but are stuck on picking out a name. We already have a few clients so now we REALLY need a name so we can get started on planning & payments!
We’re going to be doing weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, & birthdays. Not only do we do the planning, we also make stationery, favors, and some of the other decor. So I don’t want the name to be too specific since we cover so much ground.
    Any suggestions??

  127. ~For those studying medicine, law & engineering or those planning on becoming teachers – this won’t apply.

But I’d like to hear your opinion on the following statement: with the Internet and A WEALTH of free resources available, University is unnecessary (it may be handy, but isn’t mandatory) for those studying the arts, computer science, business or journalism. Also, feel free to throw in more subjects and debate what’s currently mentioned.

The arts: whether it be animation, painting, acting, sculpture, fashion, film & tv or writing – all the resources for one wanting to learn and pursue any of these fields are available online. What’s necessary which can sift through the sea of information out there, and find what’s relevant. This is something art schools attempt to do, but not all succeed. Sure, back in the day this may have been true too, but no time has ever existed quite like this one. 🙂

Computer science – all can be learned online.

Business – entrepreneurship has seen a huge renaissance within the past ten years, and there are no signs that anything ought to change soon. In regards to climbing the corporate ladder, a degree may help to get the foot in the door, but isn’t necessary, as connections and personal presentation often do wonders when a degree is absent.

    Journalism – same as above.

    Thoughts? Yes? No? Irrelevant?

  129. I read on one site there is 2% more women than I read on another site there are 57 million more men than women!

    It says here:
“There are 57 million more men than women globally, the UN said in a report to mark the World Statistics Day.

The report titled The World’s Women 2010: Trends and Statistics, was released by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) Wednesday, Xinhua reported.

The UN General Assembly in June this year proclaimed October 20 as World Statistics Day to recognise the importance of statistics in shaping societies.

The report showed that women globally have ‘benefited’ from the gender statistics in the last decade.

It said Europe has more women than men. But in some of the most populous countries, there is a shortage of women, such as in China where the ratio is 108 men per 100 women.

“We know that statistics are a vital tool for economic and social planning,” Keiko Osaki-Tomita, chief of Demographic and Social Statistics Branch (DSSB) of DESA, said at a press conference. “Statistics are essential for academic research, business planning and budget allocation.””

I also read: I read somewhere that “Globally, there are about 105-107 boys born for every 100 girls. Since 1940, an average of 91,685 more male babies have been born each year in the US than females, a total of 5,776,130 over that 63-year period. The highest sex birth ratio occurred in 1946 (1,059 male births per 1,000 females) while the lowest occurred in 1991 and again in 2001 (1,046 male births per 1,000 females). For all available years combined, Chinese (1,074) and Filipino mothers (1,072) had the highest differences between the number of boys born versus girls, while non-Hispanic black (1,031) and American Indian mothers (1,031) had the lowest.”

So how comes in this one song it says “there’s more women than men in this earth and that’s a fact”

From where I live there seems to be more men, when I ever I start a college there are more male students, or at shops ect.
Also in my family in 3 years there has been 16 births and only 2 were girls and there rest were boys!

I’m confused? are there more males or females in the world?!?!?!?!?
    @common sense: only 9 thousand, that’s nothing.
